The popular tracking system GPS was invented by the US Armed Force to receive signals from other navigation devices. A constellation and a combination of 26 satellites were used to create a system that could encode signals and send it to the receivers on the Earth. This system is known as the Global Positioning System. In 1990, the US Government agreed to the proposal of application of this technique in the public world.

From then the system of vehicle tracking solutions was implemented into means of transport like cars, buses, trucks and trailers. The system provides an option for a vehicle to locate any vehicle to a distance of two metres. Vehicles follow this system automatically but occasionally create a problem if the system fails to recognize a particular location. But this is relatively rare.

Large amounts of fuel, human labour and a combination of both are saved with the use of GPS but the tracking systems also provide great benefits for the fleet controllers of companies and corporations. This system reduces premiums paid upon the insurances of vehicles and also plays a positive environmental role.

A special feature of real time vehicle tracking connects a device directly to a computer. It enables the owner to take a note of the direction and speed of the vehicles under their control.
